  1. That video screen has been inoperable more than it has been operational (over the years) that there's no point in having it on.

  2. Try telling that to WTOV in Steubenville, who continued using it until late 1987!

  3. WTSP 11:00 news clip from January 2001. Pretty interesting as this was when Tampa was hosting the Super Bowl. WTSP was badly in need of an overhaul at this point. In April, they debuted a new set and graphics. There was a promo from early 2001 I wish I could find where they highlighted the upgrades.

  7. Here's the end of KGW's broadcast day for February 12-13, 1982, which includes an audio only news update, followed by the sign-off itself, with the national anthem used at WOIO/WTGI/WGHP and other TVbD stations (could it possibly from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra?)

  8. Bah, I like that new WKYC logo. It's simple and to the point, tells you everything you need to know. Hey, when you see that 3, you know it's coming direct from Cleveland. You know what's boring? Those blue-and-white Circle 7s, those suckers are everywhere. You see one of those, it could coming from any of the nine zillion Channel 7s around the nation that were too lazy to come up with something unique. And since I had no clue what the current WKYC logo looked like, I went to their website. It looks like a ne'er-do-well 3 leaning against a wall while a shady peacock looks around the corner for unsuspecting rubes to mug. Hardly trustworthy, I'd say.

  9. 10 minutes of a WTAE newscast from January 20, 1980, the night the Pittsburgh Steelers won their fourth Super Bowl. Most of the open included too. At the end you see part of KDKA’s news open from that same night, which KDKA posted on their own website 10 years ago. Which was the last time the Steelers won a Super Bowl.
