  2. Well, that didn't take long to find a new anchor. https://www.cbs46.com/news/cbs-names-rick-folbaum-new-anchor/article_ef9fc2ca-d40a-11e9-8c42-93821de148cf.html

  5. You are pretty close... Based on these 2017 numbers. https://www.businessinsider.com/cable-satellite-tv-sub-fees-espn-networks-2017-3

  6. If I was AT&T I would put up a slide that details how much everybody pays for Disney channels today, how much they want and how much their bill will be going up if Disney gets what they want. I would imagine the fee is pretty substantial with ESPN involved. And if you live in a market with an O&O, I bet you it's costing you over 10 bucks.

  7. My thoughts on Steve Stone is he’s a bit TOO excited. The way he says some of talent names such as “Jerry Gretzinger” is a bit too fast. Can’t wait to hear how he says “meteorologist Reed Kisselback.”

  8. Yes... Too many things going on. It's a Morris station. Not surprised.

  9. My verdict on WBTV's new graphics, it's pretty damn good. Although it's something I'll get used to as well.

  11. It seems Gray doesn't have any real standards for the news layouts, other than weather.

  12. Does Gray mandate that stations must spell at least one word wrong per newscast per station? "Autospy" on WLBT and "alamanc" on WBTV. Embarrassing...

  13. Pour one out for the end of the Ed Hopkins era at WNYT. As of today, they switched from Keynote to the NBC version of 360's 360 and took to Instagram for the occasion: Skimming through NewsOn, which WNYT has issues with as opens are clipped, Steve Stone is now on the talent opens.

  14. Great find - funny it was being mocked back then as elevator music. But now that we know yeah those horns are signature Gari, and probably his collaborator at the time Danny Baker.

  19. The last few minutes of a WFLD Chicago Newsbreak, 1970. How low budget was their operation then? The logo is hanging on a wire in front of the backdrop current, dangling and bobbing with every draft and breeze.

  20. They go by ABC 7. As for here in Chicago, at least when talking in the office about whatever may be on TV on any given day, I never hear them refer to it as ABC 7 - always as "Channel 7". Just as WGN is always, well, WGN and not "Channel 9" but I digress.

  21. I remember speculating quite a long time ago that SOTB was a Gari composition. I must have said that on YouTube or something, though, because I can’t find me saying that here. The instrumentation in many cuts sound a lot like Hello News; still others sound like So Good To Turn To. I guess I’m not crazy after all.

  23. This might be one of my biggest finds this year: The Spirit of Tampa Bay is Gari! It's rare to find unknown Gari works, but this appears to be one of them. It also appears there is a v2 of this image campaign that debuted in 1983. From Walt Belcher's April 11, 1983 Tampa Tribune TV column:

  25. Tough year for Cleveland viewers with several well-known personalities passing on gets tougher with the death of Fred McLeod last night at the age of 67. McLeod, most recently the local television play-by-play broadcaster for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, had previously filled the same role with the Detroit Pistons as well as working as a sports anchor at WJ(K)W (where wife Beth is currently working as a meteorologist) and WDIV. https://fox8.com/2019/09/10/longtime-sportscaster-cavs-announcer-fred-mcleod-dies-at-67/
