Happening Today is Exactly What It Says On The Tin, a report of certain event(s) taking place on that day. You see it a lot on morning shows, local and national. Some stations may do a Happening Tonight or Happening Tomorrow, as well.

Looks like they did a Mid-Cycle upgrade. Kinda like what they did when they were in the previous studio when they went from the Cockpit Styled Backdrop from the 90s to the Duratrans backdrop in the late 2000s up until when they moved to their current studio. The studio current studio is really nice, to me nothing is wrong with it and these upgrades add new life to whats already really nice. This is hands down their best studio they've ever had, and as with WABC long standing tradition, if it is not broken, no need to fix it terribly lol. The only thing that WABC has always struggled with is their graphics in my opinion.

Almost eight years (9/24/11). They're moving to a fresh new (yet-to-be constructed) building in a few years. Might as well keep what they got until then.

It is getting repetitive but the absence of a regular traffic report in the prime morning rush hour is also quite ridiculous, especially for the largest city and TV market in the country. I'm confused as to how that negligence is being lost on anyone. Beyond that, is it ever a good thing to be so inconsistent? Cancel traffic reports out entirely instead of only when the traffic anchor is away. CBS 2 is easily the 4th or 5th rated morning news program in the city and this is an obvious example of them phoning it in. If this is their approach then, hell what's the point of doing the news at all? I mean everything they discuss is a rehash of the 11 pm news the night before and if it's not then it's typically stories that are already accessible through some means well before 4:30 a.m. Just cancel the entire 2.5 hour show because it's 2019 and is outdated morning news really THAT big of a deal?

I'm not sure when this happened. But it appears South Bend's WNDU has done away with its longtime News Center 16 brand. They're now branding all of their newscasts as 16 News Now. Prior to just recently, the 16 News Now brand was only for its 4pm, while using News Center 16 for the later shows. And I can careless of how "outdated" the name was. News Center 16 was their brand. The new one is just too generic and overused.
