Yeah... it's only 10 seconds, so I admittedly don't care too much about it. But, to your point, it is simple. I wouldn't mind if they instead tried overlaying the logo on top of a clip panning the CBS newsroom, or a clip of Norah walking out of her office toward the set, or something like that. Some shot that says "This is real journalism. Let's go."

How many of you remember when KOFY had it's very own news department? We reach into the great "Vault 'O Newz"..... This is probably the only remaining artifact of that short lived news operation...which is housed at the KBEX-TV Museum of News and other Crap.

I feel like the open is trying to emulate the 2012 World News open, but not hardly rendered and animated as well as the ABC version.

All the creative work of Richard Holland. Mainly 1986-87 to 1996-97. I liked the short at the end featuring Del and Jewell Lewis, Bill Miller, and the rest of MAC America's management, explaining their growth potential (which didn't come to be after the sold KTVK in 1999).

So far I’m loving Norah, the blue, and the new music. I hope when the show moves though they use more monitor shots.

It's not necessary to provide a nod, mention, etc... (however brief) of the show's history. What inherent benefit does that provide? Plus, doing so (often trading off the Murrow and Cronkite name) cheapens their work/image imo. I would have rather Norah mentioned what new and exciting things SHE would bring to the newscast.

Music is bland and unrecognizable. Listen to that open....it goes nowhere. The graphics, like Weeters said, look cheap. The title slate with the logo is way too big! You have to move your eyes across the entire screen to read it. I'm curious about that technical glitch. I'm only speculating....Since it's a repeating video, it made me think maybe some of her on-cam segments were prerecorded to make sure there were no mistakes for the first show. But it's also possible that if this was a technical glitch with the switcher, the camera feed could have been captured and looped with that transition. (But I don't know why/how the switcher would be recording it's own feed like that.)

Ah, yes. We all fondly remember when CBS rode the incredible ratings tidal wave to #1 on the backs of Harry Smith and Paula Zahn. Oh, wait.

Right now, half of the nation's satellite subscribers are without CBS. CBS O&Os? Out. Nexstar-owned CBS affiliates? Out. Meredith-owned CBS affiliates? Out. KSWT Yuma-El Centro, KVIQ-LP Eureka, and WXVT-LD Greenville-Greenwood. All owned by Northwest Broadcasting, whose stations have been off of AT&T services since freaking February. Watch ratings for Big Brother drop, and watch as other broadcasters may end up in new retransmission disputes, potentially cutting off CBS access to even more satellite subscribers.
