  1. You say that, said person probably likely exists that is that pedantic. Why would Spencer Christian want to leave KGO, where he's been for 20 years, to join WABC again, a station he spent 9 years at and probably worked this weekend as a kind gesture?

  2. I'm happy to see WVTM FINALLY get a new set. The MG-era set served well and I can't wait to see what Hearst does. They've really invested in WVTM since they purchased it.

  4. As I've witnessed firsthand with WXXV in Gulfport, they can stream 3 720p channels on one frequency (NBC, FOX and CW) with a halfway decent picture on all 3. It's all in the encoding, because before, only NBC and FOX were in HD and all 3 looked like garbage. Now if WBOC moved FOX up to HD, if the main channel was converted to 720p, it could work. Does WRC, WCAU and WBAL still have viewership in the area (especially in the fringes?)

  5. With my Youtube find from yesterday, how about I post the next year with the Philadelphia Phillies winning the 1980 World Series. I found this a few years ago, it has post game/celebration news coverage with channel flipping through all 3 Philly TV stations and post game coverage from WPHL who was the long time OTA flagship for the Phillies at that time. One question comes to mind. When did League Championship Series and World Series games stop being carried by the team's OTA Flagship station? I knew WPHL did their own coverage of the 1980 NLCS parallel wit

  15. While we have this speculation game, I want to go back to something else for a few minutes. Diana WIlliams is leaving after 29 years at WABC. When she took over the job working with Bill Beutel in 1992, she replaced the maligned tenure of Susan Roesgen, who was hired after they decided to not renew Kaity Tong's contract in 1990. (Diana was working at WABC at the time, but in a different role.) During Roesgen's tenure Eyewitness News gained a stronger audience, but Diana WIlliams took over and has been a steadying presence at the anchor desk, which saw so many changes. Old names li

  16. *Sigh* I wish they built an updated version of this set instead. Crazy to think how they once were able to use the same studio in different ways for almost all New York-based shows.

  17. Abstract idea - east coast/central stations run an abbreviated version of their late local news in place of the halftime show in this scenario.

  18. Lets face it, Dancing with the Stars hasn't been the juggernaut as aforementioned above. Also they've been reaching 'strawman' status searching for 'celebs', not like then when they had some substance of a cast. It's like they've exhausted to a point where the term 'star' is fleeting so bad. Like Youtube sensations are 'stars'. This is the world we live in. That the show isn't coming back in spring due in part to fallen ratings, let alone what went down in their just concluded season is telling. I prefer the best situation, simulcast MNF on ABC. I don't see at a devalue to ESPN as

  19. MNF has a doubleheader on Week 1. ABC affiliates would protest their late news being bumped to the wee hours of the morning. Also, four words: Dancing. With. The. Stars.

  20. ABC could have NFL FOOTBALL right now if they simulcast with ESPN. I said earlier ABC could get MNF in 2022 and THNF in 2022. ABC made a big mistake in 2006 by giving up the NFL.

  21. Say what you want about what Disney has done to ABC's sports programming in general but I absolutely hope that Fox's influence on ABC might convince the Alphabet Network to get serious about Sports once again, And bringing back a seperate Sports Division (Equipment, announcers, etc.) would be a good start
