Plus you have to haul and lug all those flags, and you have to keep track of the stand-ups making sure they match stations, you have to be cautious of outdated logos or network affiliation switches. ...and if and when you screw one up...it's all YOUR fault. How about just No mic flag and a nice new black Electro VoiceRE-50... Or a nice new black RE-50 and a generic Nexstar flag?

Maybe a nice teak or oak?

Have you seen the weather forecast in Iowa this week? I'd move the market to another state too. In the email we received, it says Nexstar will divest WTKR/WGNT and WNEP, in addition to stations in the overlap markets, and perhaps more as we've speculated.

Like that the WISH package is expanding. Looks really good here.

KDFW, too. The news theme and promo song were also heard in San Francisco, but on different stations. KTVU used the news theme for their weekend 6:00; and KOFY had the promo.

CBS and/or FOX, for one. It's a football market, so one of them will definitely try for WISH/WNDY. Nexstar may keep 4/59, but I do think we're in for an affiliation swap in Indy once the dust settles.

Here's a thought: if Nexstar can keep the Tribune duo (both top 4, status quo), what is to prevent WISH and WNDY from going to Dispatch and/or Scripps to form duopolies with WTHR and WRTV?

I would breathe a sigh of relief if I'm a part of WNEP.

The fourth girl in the front is covering it with her hand... it's just the big 8 with woodtv.com in white on the corners... Very similar to sister station WLNS.. theirs is a big 6 with wlns.com in white in the corners

This collection has over 100 flags and took over 40 years to collect . Think of all the fun you could have with those.

Ha! Love the breaking news ‘test’ that made it into the crawl at 4:59. Oopsy.

I am definitely not complaining one bit about stations going to the WISH package! That's probably the best package Nexstar has.

Is it just me or has WISH all of the sudden have become the graphics hub for the Nexstar stations within the Great Lakes/Northeastern region? First WHTM gets it now WBRE/WYOU gets it

If you ever wondered what a newscast for WGPR (now CBS O&O WWJ) looked like before CBS took control, here's a sample (courtesy of the FuzzyMemories channel) from 1981. 1981 WGPR "Big City News" Morning Report (partial)

State broadcaster RTÉ (Raidió Teilifís Éireann) in Ireland revealed their first new news set in over 10 years, the switch to LED videowalls has drastically improved the amount of space in their small studio. I'm pretty impressed, given that they're an underresourced broadcaster that literally had to sell off parts of their property to fund the studio. It looks like they got Lightwell Visualization to develop the virtual newsroom. Other than that, there are new titles and a reorchestrated version of RTÉ's historic interval signal, O'Donnell Abú. Especially compared to the loftiness of KWGN's set right down the hall. This was long overdue.

Just curious, what is the name of the font used in this package?

The birdie said: it won’t be until May. They are “literally” loading set pieces one by one over three months.

Didn't realize KDFW had a resing of the thing:
  21. 1 point
Or they're just going to let it sit completed for a few weeks so they can launch it as a sweeps stunt on April 25th, when May sweeps start. Stations really rather do that then rush to get off a temporary set.

Should be noted BET had to leave this after Viacom bought them out since they were then co-owned with Showtime (resulting in BET Movies: Starz! 3 becoming Black Starz and eventually Starz inBlack). But here's something BET didn't sell to Viacom: their own PPV service, previously the independent Action PPV (BET took it over sometime in the late 90s):

I don't see what the big deal is. I'm 99% sure this is supposed to be a modern take on their old slanted 11 logo. If they used this exact logo 40 years ago, I have a hunch that every one of you in here complaining would be commenting about how amazing and wonderful it is that Tegna was reviving a "classic" and how the logo they moved off of was the worst logo that ever existed in the history of TV station logos and should have never existed to begin with. It's an 11. It looks way better as a social media icon/app icon/etc than the old one did (which is probably the catalyst for the change.) It looks way better than any typeface would look.

I hope the new studio makes a big splash. I hope they flood the market with catchy promos that make waves across the bayou. I heard their news department is still very sensitive about being the pool camera, and some reporters have been getting lazy... ...and floating their packages.

As sad as I am to see the jcbD classic go, the existing logo had become a poor fit for social media platforms and Tegna's logo system...
