  1. This must have been shortly after ABC/WXYZ lured Kelly away from 2 Storer Place (WJBK) to Broadcast House. (Kelly's co-anchor at 'JBK, Jac LeGoff joined the Magnificent 7 a couple of years later).

  2. (NON-NEWS) A promo that aired on Canal 13 from December 1997 to promote the 1998 FIFA World Cup draw and a friendly match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=HA9dGH7d2Ig;t=57 Anyone knows if it's production music of if it comes from a movie?

  4. Further proof the "KTAL 1997 News Theme" is really just production music (heard in the first 30 seconds):

  6. Yea..That logo was horrid. Their 2007 look was way better but not by much.

  7. Huh, never saw this on the same channel that had the KUTV signoff/footage compilation. Not new, but higher quality version (and the minute cut) of the Livin' in Utah image song. Gosh, it's really a majestic sound.

  8. WPHL has gone KCPQ. And like the latter, the graphics are brilliantly done. Hey Tribune, even though you’re on your last legs, you should consider hoisting these graphics onto certain stations in Milwaukee and Greensboro, you know?

  9. Wow, amazing. A station actually *welcoming* a news veteran, and not trying to shove him out the door (rocking chair optional).... Congrats Mr. Bibb. Cleveland is lucky and fortunate to have you.

  10. It's surprising to us today how some stations in the middle of the country back then didn't have 6pm news and just did 5 and 10 (KMGH in the early-mid 90s comes to mind; WHBQ also was in that situation near the switch, but that was also a sign of deep neglect).

  11. A KSDK promo from 1997. Strange that what was then a Gannett station used a modified version of the Hearst "Camera" package, and a logo animation similar to what those stations used at that time in this promo.

  12. Wow! That's been on YT for all this time and none of us ever found it? The Chicago acting mayor story dates this to December 1987, not 1988.

  14. On YouTube, you never know what you'll find. Back in 1988, Gregg Jarrett (now of FOX News) worked for WKFT-TV, the independent station serving Raleigh, Durham and Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was the news anchor for the station's 10pm news. Here is a tease that aired one hour before the newscast aired. This one features an unknown theme. Please note that this was uploaded nine years ago.

  15. From Phoenix, a short KSAZ promo for the 6 p.m. news from April 1996; later that year, the station would introduce full-on Fox branding and a new 6 p.m. anchor team:

  16. Looks like they were trying to carry over that edgy early 90s Fox feel to NBC, to disastrous effect Here is their open just one year earlier for comparison

  20. Different strokes for different blokes I guess. That theme music does not scream to me news. It's like I'm preparing to watch a Luau or golf or something. Also the intro is very underwhelming. Hearst's intros and themes in the past were an ear worm and the intro actually resembled a news telecast

  21. According to Daily Herald's Robert Feder, longtime reporter Emily Florez is leaving the station after she is coming back from her maternity leave back in February while the station is covering the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics; but she is resigned after six years and she is coming back to her hometown of Salt Lake City when she is previously working for a CBS affiliated station. https://www.robertfeder.com/2018/08/13/robservations-tronc-reported-close-sale/

  22. It seems that KCTV, WGCL, KMOV, WSMV can't keep a news director at any of these stations. Maybe the reason is Meredith is a piece of crap! I think it time for Meredith to merge with Hearst, because what the deal working for Merry-Death?

  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7SjpXcfLug Speaking of San Diego & Raleigh, I totally forgot KUSI in my San Diego playlist! Also I’ll be doing Raleigh next for news opens. It was a fine line between that and Charlotte but Raleigh won overall.
