1. From the same newscast, but in January 1995, as Mabel Marchesini anchored solo while Guillermo Andino was on his summer break. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=6FhDhKyhjVg;m=6;s=28 At the beginning of the video, you'll find 6 minutes of Saved by the Bell dubbed in Spanish! The person who recorded the video started doing it a few minutes before 8pm.

 2. Great American owned WTSP. Terry Cole went on to work in TV on the management side as GM at WOWK and, IIRC, WCHS. His (ex) wife was Sandra Cole, an anchor at WOWK. One of the newspaper articles did state that an executive producer was told by Cole that he and Shapiro "hated Channel 13" and would do whatever it took to beat them. Cole, however, denied he ever "sat and plotted" with Shapiro and denied seeing Shapiro access WTVT's computer files. (courtesy Google newspaper archive) At any rate, this is how John Wilson opened WTSP's 6:00 news on 2/7/89: "Our top story tonight-what could be the first case of it's kind in the nation. Channel 10's assistant news director charged with tampering with computers of a competitor."

 3. I'm beginning to think that KMOV will probably drop the "News 4" moniker and become "KMOV 4 News" to match that of their cross-state sister KCTV

 4. No opens or anything like that, but a rare treat just the same: bits and pieces of WSFA news from January 1961.

 5. In 1984, you could get Paul Harvey's commentary in Flint on WEYI 25 News... (It's not much, but this is a rare station generally.) The WNYW 10 O'Clock News from 1992:

 6. Funny you should mention that... (Note: this was on a weekend morning and nothing was animated, so I'm thinking this is an emergency backdrop for when things are on the fritz. That said, they've only EVER used it once.)

 7. Oh wow they broke into Frank Magid's data? Wow..Never knew this story but hey they did it for ratings points. Does anyone know where Terry Cole and Shapiro at today? Also who puts a file from the competition in a storage shed at your own shop? Did they not think about shreading the information? Do you think any of the staff at Channel 10 knew what was going on? The ownership that had to do the payout was that Great American Broadcasting?

 8. Weekend Today and Today show has not been the same since he got promoted. He made morning television watchable and less self centered. You could tell his female co-anchors loved being around him. Weekend Today had their best renaissance when Lester was the host. In some ways I feel that NBC does not deserve him. I love seeing Lester on both evening and morning news also he did cable news. That triple threat ability to do any form of hosting and news, is so rare. Lester was far ahead of everybody on the Today show however, politics and politics. There is a reason why all the good anchors like Campbell, Soledad O' Brien etc all left NBC. However, NBC management must've fought very hard to keep Lester from leaving they knew they had a gem.

 9. The video is mislabled, but it contains a WIS-TV 11pm open from the mid 1980s. The theme WIS used was also used in many NBC News promotions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30VOtcPl-0k

 10. For once, I agree with you. That building has been in use since the days of DuMont! It's no wonder people are getting sick and leaving, the whole place is just waiting to be condemned. (Not to mention their laziness in updating the facade-- hasn't changed since the mid 80s.)

 13. I had to correct myself, this was at least the 3rd or 4th week of the WB Network's launch. And yes, the station still branded themselves as TV56 before it went full WB56....by 1996 I guess?

 15. Just chiming in to say that I will always root against this show and all associated with it for the decision to dump Ann back in 2012. Especially when it was revealed that she suffered workplace bullying at the hands of Lauer and that fat ass executive producer.

 16.
That's from early October 1984 going by the World Series mention...and lo and behold, in the bumper after the open, it's that weird Telesound NBC music that's mushed in with Tuesday9 on the NMSA, alongside music we know is Telesound, from a known Telesound client... Hmm...
Gonna ping @TServo2049 because he will want to hear this... I agree this is the Telesound NBC affiliate package.

 17. Came here to post this... you beat me to it, haha! Early usage of Right Here, Right Now for sure... I wonder if it began in late 2000? Any Charlotteans have any insight? They were certainly using the more subdued cuts than the era with the powerful opens voiced by Charlie Van Dyke that are on the NMSA (used presumably after this)

 19. This is for the main AM show 5 days a week! It gets even dicier on the noon show where it could be either Darwin or Kelly solo anchoring, with either Jake or Kelly as the meteorologist....and some days Kelly Foster does both by herself!
