  1. WNYT does this too - Bob Kovachick and Paul Caiano do weather at the 4:00-6:00pm slots. I bet this is either to force Bob K into retirement or they give the opportunity of having one weather anchor in the studio while the other reports live from a remote location (an example was Bob at Albany’s Alive at Five a few weeks ago).

  4. Then...you have stations like WPMI that make you keep score with their morning anchor team, since they have Kelly Foster doing double duty as a meteorologist and co-anchor to Darwin Singleton two days a week, and as a co-anchor joined by Jake Dunne the other 3 (who works on the weekends and fills in for the often-missing chief Chris Dunn). Translation...they were too cheap to hire a replacement for Kelly Jones when she left and gave Kelly Foster some anchor time....

  5. When WBAL did it it was always the male meteorologist in studio tossing to the female who’d do today’s weather and would interview some business. It stopped when I guess they went more news intensive in the AM.

  6. It seems like in terms of news, CBS takes one step forward (CBS-TM, 60 Minutes, Sunday Morning, Face The Nation, etc.) and five steps backwards (Evening News and Weekend News).

  7. Original Reporting takes Original Reporters NOT news readers - which is the best I can say for the current crew.

  11. There was a time where WTSP did get up to #1 for a hot minute, and I wonder if it was during this time. WOW this story is very interesting, and juicy! Clearly they had no shame.

  14. Ellie Merritt was hired over from channel 10... she was one of Media General’s first hires after they bought the station from NBC and the subsequent 2007 cuts. She replaced Holly Hollingsworth who was there from ‘97-‘07. Is Holly still in the industry?
