Based on what I heard, Fox would move SmackDown back to Friday nights under this $1 billion deal between them and the WWE.

WHSV's (Harrisonburg, VA) Victoria Wood heads down I-81 to join Roanoke's WDBJ. She's the new weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter. She made her debut last week. http://www.roanoke.com/sports/colleges/tv-radio-notes-wdbj-adds-martinsville-native-victoria-wood/article_2e7d6ba2-4e69-5f5d-b77f-8a1ae6336fac.html

And it's not like Fox will have an entertainment cable network to place Raw on (remember, Disney is getting FX and FXX).

Oh.. people. Relax, Tegna and anyone smart enough who works at Tegna wouldn't distribute their music (A Custom theme song for their stations, specifically) to anyone that does not work for the company-at least for now. They aren't blind to the internet. Clearly, broadcasters want to see the criticism from us nerds on the internet, not the Graphical mocks we create with the music they asked for, specifically for them without an actual reason. Obviously this will change farther into the year. "Just saying"

My guess would be "other business functions" is space for sales staff to schmooze with clients before/after heading over to the American Airlines center for a game or event. It's the building between the old Morning News building and the parking ramp behind it.

At Least now we will see some transparency in the sport with the sudden popularity...and new spending. Seems to me that most wrestling has become questionable in the honesty department. I hope this is a fresh new professional start where our children will have positive role models that teach honesty and good social values like team building and resolving conflict through peaceful methods. Our children need to see that wrestlers are regular people too with that can be hurt by bad words our thoughts. Let's pray from "Hulk Wholesome" to lead our youth...not Hulk Hogan. Andre the "big person"...would be proud.

It way over dude with the 24Hour News Source, 24 Hour Newsroom etc. Just let it go. Either News 8, 8News or Local 8 News. Keep it simple and keep it movin'.

maybe... they have better things to do with their time than try and please obsessive news music nerds... with more tracks that sound similar to what they already uploaded... just saying...

Now why don't we have our presenters or anchors in the US approach the same way the Argentinian counterparts do in presentation as the intro + headlines showcased. Make a world of difference. More personable than 'We are like a family' trite.

Gizmodo Media (a part of Univision Communications) has published a longform article detailing the severe debt problems that Univision is having, the mass layoffs that are devastating the news operations, and infighting that is going on within the company. It also takes a look at the Fusion fiasco and the huge amount of money wasted on that project. https://specialprojectsdesk.com/univision-is-a-fucking-mess-1825836622

I'm under the impression that at this point Nickelodeon is largely a '90s nostalgia brand. I have seen more merchandise pertaining to Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy (though who knows whether that's gonna dry up), Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold! and CatDog than anything they've got on the air now that's not SpongeBob or TMNT. I do wonder if Comcast or somebody won't just snap it up at the first opportunity though.

The word is that USA is keeping Raw, and paying three times more than the previous contract.
  24. 1 point
I could be wrong, but this looks like the kind of stuff Z Space would do (this is considering Nexstar prefers to do all of their set builds in-house from local contractors rather than outsource to another company).

No, but they were practicing again. I caught it on the livestream.

The NFL's goal is to maximize revenue and eyes. Keeping the NFC and AFC Sunday afternoon packages split between two separate networks makes the most sense. In markets with more than one NFL team, if only Fox carried the games would create issues due to overlap. Never will happen. The Thursday package has been a dog, so CBS and NBC were willing to let it go. That will not happen for the Sunday pm and night packages.
  27. 1 point
That's two nights of programming that Fox will have locked up. With WWE on Tuesdays and Thursday night football, Fox can build a core schedule out of those properties. However, the fact that Fox is overpaying for these rights may come back to haunt them.

Well, after all they technically work for ABC. The stations mentioned above are all Owned and Operated by ABC Television so I take it is very easy for them to pool their resources together.

It's connected to the DMN building, but they all share a parking lot (despite being, as the kids say, "Frenemies.") They still might rent it out, but at the time I was there, none were in use. I was there for a function hosted by the Dallas Morning News that could have just as easily been held in any generic meeting room or banquet hall. Instead, they did it in an empty TXCN studio. The studio still had curtains and some very basic lighting. Any remnants of a set were gone though. I remember there is a window that looks into the studio from an upper floor. Couldn't see through the window to see if whatever is behind it is still in use. I know they had some limited office space directly behind the glass that was behind the anchor desk. It was part of the set in the sense that you could see through the glass behind the anchor to see who was working in there, and there was wallpaper that matched the blue and orange pattern on the set. Off of that office area is a glassed in room that i think they use as a green room for guests. I never knew DMN had office space there! I'll bet since they split with WFAA, they probably lost that space, or voluntarily gave it up (unless they signed a prenup?). Or they just pretend the other doesn't exist, like they did on Young Street!

Yep. If anyone hasn’t caught it yet, former WTEN weatherman Nick Johnston has taken a job at WGY as a news anchor. Thankfully he’s sticking to the Capital Region.

KTAL's Dan and Jacque Jovic are husband and wife and so are Melissa Kakareka and James Parish of KSLA. KSLA had another married couple, Clay Ostarly and Victoria Shirley but they moved up to Roanoke, where they now work for rivaling stations, Clay on WFXR and Victoria on WDBJ. Melissa Moon (WREG) and Melanie Moon (last seen on KPLR) are twin sisters.

UPDATE: I heard back today and for some odd reason, they cannot upload more cuts. I don't know if it was a misunderstanding on this guys' end, but he said they "don't have any longer cuts of the material you are looking for but I'm sure you'll find what you need on amazing SC." (I believe SC stands for Sound Cloud). Then, I explained to him that I was not asking for longer cuts of the themes that were already uploaded, but long cuts of the main themes (morning, evening, night, tease, political), stuff like that. Then he said, "Good luck with that too." Okay. So, that did not go well. But, I did hear from KING's marketing director last month that C Clarity might be able to be distributed outside of the stations later this year. Don't know when (maybe once all the stations get it?), but I thought that was interesting. They should put the package online so everyone can hear it.

I'll begin with 2 of my all-time favorite Sports promos (and I have a lot of the sports promos from every network (except CBS) on my YouTube channel As narrated by late Hal Douglas: "The NFL, the NBA, Major League Baseball, Notre Dame Football, the PGA Tour, Wimbledon, the USGA Championships and the 2000 and 2002 Olympic Games. All on America's Sports Leader, NBC." This is the one I like the most: "The NFL and the Super Bowl, the Breeders Cup, the PGA Tour, the NBA and the NBA Finals, Notre Dame Football, Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games. All on America's Sports Leader, NBC."

They're still missing Xfinity in the District and fair chunks of Maryland (PG, Charles, Calvert counties) and Virginia (Loudoun, Fauquier, Stafford, Spottsylvania, King George, and other southern fringe counties). Not to mention Cox in Fairfax County/Fredericksburg City, RCN, Metrocast in St. Charles County, MD, Shentel in the towns near the DC/Harrisonburg DMA line, and some others I'm missing. The omission of Loudoun and Fauquier is a bit mystifying as their signal reaches much of Loudoun and parts of Fauquier just fine.

It's possible. Remember that ABC 33/40 in Birmingham retained several longtime personalities after Sinclair took over (James Spann, Pam Huff, Jeff Speegle, Brian Peters and Brenda Ladun, along with the now-retired Dave Baird). There are probably several other examples among the group, I don't know any more. I didn't know, either. How is she related to them? In-law? Cousin?

Well folks, today is "somewhat" of a milestone. One year ago today was the day they'd announced this damn deal. This starts a three-month countdown to close this deal. Now had'nt they receive shareholder approval back in the fall, the outside date would've been today. But since they did, August 8 is the date.

Canada is having a nationwide test of its emergency alert system (AlertReady) this week. The test was performed today (May 7) for Ontario and Quebec residents. The rest of the country will have their tests done on May 9. Mandatory mobile alerts were also rolled out to LTE-connected mobile devices this month, hence the reason for this week's tests. This video shows the test activation seen in Montreal (CFCF) and Toronto (CFTO/CITY/CIII).

Worth updating this. I was reading some old articles through my library database. It was sold that the 5000 sq ft for the studio with office space housing them, other business functions and some newspaper space for Dallas Morning News. But that could’ve changed when Belo was bought by Gannett and they split up.

Congrats, half the market won't be able to see it including anyone in the District itself save those with Dish Network. Are there any other situations where a station with partial market coverage has full market rights to a show?

I almost forgot to mention there could be a reason why they rebrand it "Redwood News". There's some new job postions stating that they wanted to start airing news on sister CBS outlet KVIQ-LD. For one of the positions:

Nothing too big out of DC or Richmond yet, but WDVM is getting the new Vivica A. Fox show. I'm interested to see what WTTG is going to replace Harry with. WRLH delegated him to overnights shortly after the new year in favor of a second run of Wilkos.
