  1. It still maintain that she's miles better than when she first arrived, and she's gelled pretty well with the team, even the old guard.

  2. And in many of these, Gray and Nexstar own ALL of the major stations in the market. A few more have Sinclair as a third owner. Grand Junction and Panama City have Nexstar owned stations because they were the Hoak leftovers when THEY merged with Gray! It's just like radio did years back, the same 3 companies owning ALL of the stations.

  3. Sorry for being negative here ... but I still think ABC 2000 was better than this oversized GMA lovefest. Peter Jennings ... I can only imagine what he is thinking right now. That theme!! Still one of the best ... ever. -- Matt

  4. You said it yourself, though; the GMA format has always been a mix of hard and soft content. If they'd been doing 5 hours of death and destruction and Trump til now, they'd be drawing the internet equivalent of hash marks. Don't tell me that if CBS was doing something like this, that they wouldn't be tapping into the broader resources of the network, like 60 Minutes, Stephen Colbert, the ladies of The Talk, or even Entertainment Tonight. A few select hours of a 40 hour program is a bad sample size, and if you want the 24 hour news cycle, there're a dozen other channels for that. Even if it's silly and generally a waste of the viewers' time, this is an ambition project, nonetheless. When Peter Jennings did his 25 hour marathon at the new millennium, there were people that were worried that the world was going to end, we'd all go bankrupt and planes would fall out of the sky, yet that was only a part of the full broadcast. I'll bet you that, come 7am, normal GMA will be on the air with 60-90 minutes of the latest on the apocalypse, and we all won't have missed much.

  5. I hope they post the ENTIRE team interview, because I'm watching on an hour and a half delay, and I know that won't last before my connection gives out.

  6. Sorry, I didn't look there before I posted here. By the way, Cecily Tynan tweeted that she will be on the GMA marathon today in the 3PM hour.

  7. Bill Ritter. Does anyone remember him anchoring for a few months right after Charlie left? I always thought he would have been a great replacement for Charlie. It's so good to see everyone back in one room.

  8. I feel like I have to warn the FCC about time-brokerage agreements used in the same way you just mentioned. Also like I said in an earlier post, Nexstar apparently seems to like saying that a station they're acquiring is a "natural compliment to (insert region here)", even if it might not be to a certain region.

  9. "If you're still with us, and we hope you are, that means One Direction didn't crash our servers." It's like an old cable access show, and that's why I like this.

  10. Gray and Nexstar have lots of room to consolidate in the smaller markets. But if one goes after the other, it would cause a slew of conflicts. The smaller groups or individual stations are sale bait now more than ever. Even if Nexstar gets Media General and becomes maxed out, the WVMH sale is a stopgap solution that doesn't give them immediate ownership, but operational control. Expect this to be the next Nexstar exploitation of the rules like they did with Mission before.

  11. Okay come on now people. Were acting like this is a big deal. It's like the red cup...we all have different views of subjects. We need to learn to accept other's opinions even if we don't agree with them.

  12. GMA's 40 for 40 broadcast isn't supposed to be hard news, its supposed to be a fun celebration of GMA's 40th Anniversary. And if you've watched GMA over the past month, you have had to notice that GMA has gotten a lot more serious and I'd put it in between Today and CBS This Morning on a hard news to fluff spectrum. They've really toned it down and brought news back to GMA.
