When did KWQC get the tagline "Inform Inspire Illuminate"?
Looks like Nexstar is cleaning house in Jackson, MS at WJTV.
Looks like the Nexstar hiring system is starting to take hold. The old MG one is still active for now and has some of the same openings....
Most of the openings existed before Nexstar took over. More like an "exodus" than a housecleaning. WJTV's GM was moved to WIAT in Birmingham pre-merger when their GM left for WOIO.
I wonder if some of them will end up at WLBT or WAPT? The latter could use a shot in the arm as it has always been a distant third place station. Hearst has risen stations from the dead before though...like WLKY and WPBF...
GM appointment #15. Former KSLA General Sales Manager Fran McRae-Posey is the new VP/GM of KLFY.
Unrelated to Nexstar, former Nexstar & MG station WCWJ has ditched the Nexstar CMS site and went to the Graham CMS site. The new YourJax page is a subpage of WJXT's News4Jax page. Content from The CW has its own page.
WTHI is the first former MG/Nexstar station to get the Heartland Media website
Not to go off-topic but, are you aware of a thread about Heartland Media called "From the Heartland..." ? I'm not a moderator but if I was, that post would be there.
I first checked wthi.com, it still have the LIN digital design. But when I clicked wthitv.com that's where the Heartland Frankly site.
My prediction is that the legacy Nexstar stations will switch to the LIN Digital design and graphics, but the ex-MG stations will adopt Nexstar domain names. We'll see how that plays out.
God I hope not.. their domain names are stupid and in some cases pathetically long... using the station call letters is easier to remember than patheticallylongandridiculousdomainnamefirst.com
Unfortunately many ethnic groups find the "W" and "K"s in the FCC call signs to be offensive.
One "K" is only 2 more ""K's" away from KKK.
The letter "W" is considered "code' for White or White people.
This is why you see these long local web names filled with platitudes.
"ilovemylocalsandiego10news.com" just makes one feel so much better inside as we start our busy day.
And here comes GM appointments #16 & #17.
Former WCIA/WCIX VP/GM Coby Cooper is the new VP/GM of Knoxville's WATE.
Replacing Cooper will be WCIA's sales director, Gary Hackler.
I have never heard or read of this reasoning. Can you provide proof?
It goes all the way back to the days of radio.
We could trot out Amos and Andy.
Tongue was firmly planted in cheek...
Alighty. GM appointment #18.
WBTW's general sales manager Jeffrey West, has been promoted to VP & GM of the station.
West replaces Randy Ingram, who was recently promoted to VP/GM of WISH-TV in central Indiana.
I finally got to see the Nexstar Media Group ID at the end of WOOD-TVs 6pm newscast... They have the Grand Rapids market dot totally in the wrong spot. They have it listed near Traverse City/Gaylord in the Northern Michigan area. It's like that on their website too... ugh...
WIVB in Buffalo has brought back the sportscast on the 6pm news after 2 year absence.
It sounds like he has major disagreements over how things were run under prior management.
Earlier this week, FTVlive documented the numerous openings that had developed under prior management. While I get that Nexstar/MG wanted to wait to fill them, the fact that so many jobs opened up to begin with was a direct result of the prior management chasing off or laying off employees.
And to put this "sane" move in perspective, this new GM was the same guy who mailed a dead rat to the landlord of his prior station WOIO/WUAB after a rodent problem at their studios....
Here's GM appointment #19.
WAVY/WVBT's sales director Carol Ward, has been promoted to VP & GM of the Hampton Roads duopoly.
