    Two things I learned today...

One: Bloomberg TV Canada shut down back in October 2017 and was quickly replaced by Bloomberg Television in the states.

Two: BNN is expected to rebrand as "BNN Bloomberg," creating a new partnership between Bell Media and Bloomberg and overtaking the previous one from Channel Zero. Also, Bell Media will have the rights to Bloomberg Radio through iHeartRadio Canada.

The first incarnation was operated by Channel Zero.

Original programming consisted of an hour-long show at 4pm ET, first titled The Daily Brief and later Bloomberg Markets: Canada, hourly updates during the business day and a nightly show produced 3-5 times a week called Bloomberg North.

The rest of the day consisted or simulcast programming of the US service and it maintained the same on-screen data heavy format.

Channel Zero pulled the plug in Sept. 2017, claiming they couldn't start a radio version of the operation in Toronto. To their credit, they did try and apply for one of the few remaining FM licenses in 2012 to no avail.

I didn't hear of Channel Zero stiffing them on their severance pay (look up CHCH-TV if you haven't already).

The first Welt-branded newscast on the former N24 this morning (preceded by a look back at the channel's history):

Rosemary Barton can't do Power and Politics anymore on CBC-NN because she's now doing The National on CBC Television.

So let's meet Vassy Kapelos. She worked for CITV Edmonton and CFSK Saskatoon. She used to work for Global National's Ottawa bureau chief and was the host of The West Block.

    Keywords... USED TO and WAS.

Vassy starts hosting Power and Politics in March: http://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/kapelos-p-and-p-1.4537311

She did stellar work as Global's provincial politics reporter for CITV and CICT Calgary (based out of Edmonton), and did great work for Global National and The West Block. On top of the layoffs announced across Global News yesterday, this one IMO is a blow to the news organization.

The Australian version of C-SPAN is no longer A-PAC. Its now Sky News Extra.

This comes as Sky News Australia launches three online streams for members only, allow Sky News Australia to be streamed live online in audio format and introduce Sky News UK to Foxtel viewers.

    In short on Foxtel...
Channel 600 = Sky News Australia
Channel 601 = Sky News Business
Channel 602 = FOX Sports News
Channel 603 = Sky News Weather
Channel 604 = Sky News Extra
Channel 605 = Sky News UK

I really liked the BBC rebrand in 2008, but ever since then, their entire look feels really stale and uninspired. They should have gone for a more radical evolution of that look when they moved to New Broadcasting House in 2013.

CityNews Toronto has existed forever, CityNews used to exist in other places, but then the 2010 crisis hit.

Since then, CityNews is back in Edmonton and Winnipeg.

And now, starting September 3rd, the City is back in the News for Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver viewers. Same times as the EDM and WPG ones.

In Australia, WIN Tasmania is moving the production of its regional news to the mainland -- and eliminating all weekend regional newscasts. This is how ABC Tasmania reported on the development:
