I made it to 250 posts! And at least half of them was on this thread! The last few minutes of the other Pro News in Texas, KVIA-TV from April of 1982, along with the first minutes of their PM Magazine franchise, using a short version of the 1979 intro: A YT user looks back at the tornados that hit KOCO-TV 20 years ago this June, including clips of interviews with staff: A rare unused KNXT intro from 1980, I think this came from a CGI demo reel: A documentary on BFBS from the early 80s:
WJLA's 11pm newscast from September 4, 2003. I think this open was used for about a year. Check out the 13:27 mark where Leon Harris is introduced as the station's new evening anchor.
This is from August 8, 1974, the day of the resignation announcement. Here's a longer clip of the same coverage, albeit in black-and-white:
Some clips from WRC's news in July 1996. 6pm news begins at 3:36. I don't think there was a copy of this open on Youtube before, unless it's buried somewhere in a NewsActive 3 compilation.
The tail end of a WNEM newscast from 1996. I assume the L3’s shown went with the KTUL-like graphics they used at the time.
Here's a reat treat, WNHT from its indie days, including a promo using a jingle package from WTZA, and a news update (before they launced a full news operation during their CBS affiliation):
Don't know if this WEAR 1999 newscast has been posted up in here. I still love this theme and to me its kind of great in a way (but now it kind of stinks with Sinclair also owning WPMI)..but they have been very unique until the Sinclair acquisition.
KMGH in 1985 (60fps!) with coverage of a flash flood in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The open is clipped but it's a nearly full half hour with a young Harry Smith, the Welch Newsmat look and set, and a fantastic close:
Great looking set. Also near the end, the first bulletin of news about the crash of Delta 191 - about 15 minutes after it happened.
So Id guess they debuted the Newsmat set and graphics around the summer, as by May they still were using the old set:
