A compilation of NBC Nightly News opens from 1970 to the present day:
A 1991 look at WDSU's news:
A compilation of WGN opens from circa 1965 to the present day -- including some from the rarely seen Newsnine era:
Thames Television; London, UK; 1980 -- a crash on the London Underground is the lead story:
"Thames News" was probably the first news program I really liked as a kid. Here are some of my recordings from back then! They had a pretty "unique" news theme in '89! And you'd have to say that long-running Thames River ID (in your clip above) must be one of the all-time greats.
For what it's worth, I was fascinated by the retro, minimalist, vaguely "Eastern Bloc" vibe I got from this as a primary school kid..
and their timeless ID in 1989 - elegant and stunning to this day. (and the great News at One)
WVUE/Channel 8 [then ABC] 1983/1986
WITI/Channel 6 switch from CBS to FOX
WJBK/Channel 2 switch from CBS to FOX
In Honor, in memory and in tribute to the late, grat Rich Fisher.
Here's a very funny moment of Rich Fisher while working at WXYZ. He steals the cookies that Bill Bonds was promoting on the air.
Neat clip from WXFL (now WFLA) from 1988. Noon news with Bill Ratliff, Barbara Callahan and Jim Smith, who worked at WXYZ for several years in the 70s:
KGO-TV in 1963:
KABC-TV Watts Riots Coverage from 1965:
WJXT/Jacksonville noon news in 1986:
CBS News *attempted* coverage of the Tiananmen Square Crackdown in 1989:
Holy Cleveland... It's all 90s stuff too, including plenty around the affiliation switch.
More classic WXTV! This time a weather report from the 1990s.
A cool, two-minute (!) promo featuring WNBC and NBC News personalities, 1997:
Our source needs a capture card, but apparently WDIV ran through news opens like candy in the early 80's...
As seen on the first TVbD demo, they had a different open by 1983 but this music stuck around as a bumper. And all that, in turn, was gone by 1984...
There's a clean version of that open/theme somewhere in a demo on YT...
That's even better than what I had in mind.
