  1. Past hour
  2. Poppy Harlow exits CNN after CNN This Morning restructure.
  3. Today
  4. Should we move this thread to the Breakroom section? Seems like it fits there.
  5. I’ve always viewed as more ownership based than affiliate based. For instance, KHOU and WFAA are sister stations in Texas despite one being a CBS affiliate and the other being ABC.
  6. Sister stations are stations that are owned by the same company as them. For example WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids is the sister station to WLNS in Lansing -- both are owned by Nexstar. WNBC in NYC is sister to KNBC in LA -- both are owned by NBCUniversal... etc etc etc
  7. It is a bit strange. Different stations have different uses for "sister" stations. Most I hear using it are addressing another O/O, another same-company-owned station, and much more rarely, a fellow network affiliate. More often, I hear "_(network)_ station" or "_(network)_ affiliate" by a station to refer to another same-network station, if the station doesn't say the other station's call letters directly.
  8. "We're finally not alone!" -- WMUR
  9. Assuming AMG itself even cares about This TV anymore. The network has lost a massive chunk of their carriage over the past few years, and I've heard speculation on other forums that it's probably not long for this world. If The CW is truly bound for WDIV, it'll probably replace This TV, even if Graham has to pay off Bryon Allen.
  10. Good to see the site's back, even if it's undergone a few changes in the process. Definitely not the first online community I've been a part of that's undergone changes over the years, and unlikely to be the last. (I'd have chimed in sooner, but I moved from NH to CT and am cheerfully buried in things that need to be done.)
  11. XD Imagine that, "This is The CW Detroit on Channel 4.5" In this case, They can move the classic programs down but NBC, Weigel, and Byron gonna get mad at WDIV, XD Oh also, WADL is less likely to even get The CW now, XD
  12. They're paying the competition for an subchannel XD Poor WPVI, despite the first place rating, people in Philly can't get the station because it's an VHF digital station (on Ch. 6) while it's competitors are Digital UHF stations (Virtual Channels don't particularly count) If Disney just putting an translator on Philly, that'll be better.
  13. Yesterday
  14. Couldnt they put it on their Raleigh stations WLFL/WRDC that’s a duopoly and Fresno KMPH/KFRE that a duopoly there yet they wanted to put it on 2 ABC O&Os in the same respective station essentially they’re paying the competition. They have soup olives in Raleigh and Fresno why would they put it in a competing station in their respective cities.
  15. KSTU/KUPX will be the TV home of the Utah Hockey Team, the former Coyotes.
  16. Because Disney only treats WPVI as a budget line item that generates a boatload of money in revenue without any effort. Disney is only focused on Disney+ and the soulless meat packing plant that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's it.
  17. Noticed that too, it was also her first day back from vacation lol.
  18. It's so odd to see Miss USA/Teen USA finally thriving again on The CW after years in limbo post-2015...while Miss America is stuck behind a $35 paywall on a niche pageant streaming site the same way something like international sports such as kabaddi are. Before the end of the decade we may be considering Miss America history out of their stubborn pride. The funniest thing to come out of this would be AMG then getting legally involved in this mess because their oldest This TV affiliate gets bumped off or moved down on WDIV, or even more comedic, the CW is stuck on WDIV-DT5 because Graham doesn't want to get their Cozi and MeTV fans tangled up in multiple channel changes either and remains loyal to Byron, Weigel and NBC.
  19. After a successful move late last September, The CW will continue to air the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants for the next 3 years. As part of the new deal, Miss Teen USA will return to broadcast television for the first time since 2007. https://deadline.com/2024/04/miss-usa-teen-usa-cw-deal-1235895057/
  20. Mike anchored the 4:30am half hour solo today. I wonder if Shirleen got stuck in traffic!
  21. Just look at market 1! Half the reporting staff at WCBS, WNYW, and WPIX and to a lesser degree WNBC are unrecognizable---and this is the highest paid market. The only station that has heavily retained reporting talent is WABC.
  22. The Kraken are moving from Root Northwest to KING/KONG this fall. KGW and KREM will also pick up games in Portland and Spokane, respectively.
  23. He's writing this as if the industry isn't already a revolving door of talent. Has he watched the news at all in the last decade? Even in big markets, it's pretty astounding how much attrition there is on and off screen. I don't think I could name more than a handful of reporters on competing stations. When I turn on Denver TV, there's barely anybody recognizable to me on there. This is nothing but great news for the media industry workforce, and employees can now more freely vote with their feet and escape bad employers who don't pay enough. Not that we have much choice anyway with at most a dozen station groups now. Of course, noncompetes have been watered down quite a bit already. Most stories I hear these days of people breaking their contract involve the station group threatening to sue them, then the employee gets a lawyer to point out all the ridiculous claims. Then, the station group is too cheap to go through with the lawsuit anyway and they back down immediately. There are so many other new laws at play too. Noncompete clauses are already unenforceable in California, but a new law that went into effect in January makes all contracts with noncompetes void *altogether.*
  24. 2010 was the last time they debuted a new set that was when Allison Floyd and Tim McGinnis were anchors and Rich Chrampanis was still sports director all of them gone. That’s how long they had the set.
