  1. Today
  2. Mike hasn’t anchored a Friday 11 pm broadcast in weeks, maybe months. Most often it’s been David Novarro anchoring solo; since Sade’s extended absence, sometimes it’s been Sandra anchoring solo Fridays at 11.
  3. A Chuck and Sue reunion conversation is being promoted as part of the half hour 50th Anniversary tribute to Chuck, airing Thursday at 7 pm.
  4. I hope so. (Sue Simmonds even said on her last day she hoped to get employment somewhere else). Unfortunately, at Dana's age - -and presumable price tag -- stations may be reluctant to hire her. If Lori Stokes getting hired at Fox 5 was any indication, hopefully stations aren't averse to picking up older talent.
  5. With Dana Tyler's time at CBS2 coming to a close. Hopefully this isn't goodbye for Dana, assuming she decides to show up at one of the competing NYC stations (NBC4, FOX5, ABC7, or PIX11) for I believe she's got a few more years left in reporting news. Wishing Dana all the best.
  6. almost poetic that this comes the same week as Chuck's 50th anniversary over on 4. Two legends being treated very differently by their stations. Wishing Dana all the best.
  7. Just watched the video- she noted her goodbye at the end was pre-taped which is understandable because she seemed quite emotional and this is clearly not what she wants- but it is the super harsh reality of the business. I do think Channel 2 could have done a better job saluting her and not a rushed piece for 8 minutes at the end of one newscast. She deserves better, but I think the reason she didn't get a longer send off is because she's being forced out and likely made this decision more last minute than expected. It also seems like she is not staying with the station in any capacity (unlike previous reports) which I really respect. She will go out with dignity and on a high note. I'm still in shock about all of this, though (as I'm sure Dana is too); and it is all quite unfortunate. I really wish Dana happiness in whatever she choses to do next.
  8. This was a very nicely done tribute, but I am in shock that this was Dana's last day. We knew Dana (and Dick Brennan) were leaving the 6pm newscast, but she was supposed to remain with the station as a fill-in anchor and contributor. However, per an article in Newsday.com (paywalled), which cited a memo from GM Johnny Green, Dana thought about it and decided that today would be her last day. The Newsday.com article goes on to mention that several in the news industry believe this move is directly related to budget cuts at Paramount Global. Regardless of the reason, this feels like a pretty abrupt ending for someone who devoted nearly 34 years of her life and career to this station. The entire process, starting with a leaked internal memo announcing that Dana and DIck would be "transitioning" off the 6pm newscast, seems like it was completely mishandled.

  11. Dana Tyler just signed off WCBS for the last time, after an 8 minute tribute at the end of the 6pm where she said it was her last day at channel 2.
  12. Goes into effect April 1st. They're running commercials for it in Albany, not posting about it online though.
  13. Then there’s WRC in DC that has an hour-long 6pm into Nightly News. Like Atlanta, they also go up against Fox.
  14. Bumping this up-- personally, IMO, if WWL in the Big Easy was to no longer be EWN (saddened that that Big Easy CBS station was to no longer be/is no longer EWN), then I think a better name for that news would have been News 4 Louisiana, or even News 4 New Orleans [that latter one would have given WWL, seemingly, a sort of WNBC/Big Apple flavor, because News 4 New York has been a long-running news handle in the Big Apple, first from 1980-95, and then from 2008-now]).
  15. KDKA Pittsburgh does that with the CBS Evening News.
  16. When does this go in effect? Because I don't see any articles or releases. And its guide is not updated to reflect the change.
  17. WSB 2 Atlanta delays ABC World News Tonight until 7 pm, opting to air their 6 pm local news as a 1-hour bock. This puts them head to head with WAGA Fox 5 who does the same. (Both don't list 6:30 as a separate newscast).
  18. Sooner or later, there won't be any affiliates that time-shift the network news. Who's left (in ET and CT?). Pacific seems to have more leeway due to their location.
  19. The Steve Wilkos Show renewed for Season 18.
  20. Sure, Nexstar and some others are their own deal compared to several O&Os...and WFMZ in this particular case. If this had been say something on the Mississippi, then yeah, the Philly locals aren't likely flying anyone out. A couple hours of driving though....sure. By a general estimate, the drive to the Baltimore area from Philly would be less than a half hour longer than to some of the Jersey shore destinations they cover (like Long Beach Island and Cape May). Maybe a little extra for a bathroom break at a rest stop.
  21. Indeed; if you didn't put something in the contract, for whatever reason, such is life. And if they're interested, more power to 'em if they make it work.
  22. Well, no matter how we feel, the days of local stations flying reporters out to a National Story are becoming limited with big cheap companies like Nexstar --with a station in almost every market -- who will just distribute a local package to sister stations.
  23. As long as they dont have a "George Newman" or "Stanley Spadowski" on staff... ...us TV folks know what that means
  24. WGN is apparently planning something for April 1st at 3:30am.
