Just learned that Al Gnoza is no longer with WHTM (abc27).

It doesn't say why he is no longer working there but I suspect this may be related to his controversial joke he made during the 11pm televised newscast last week regarding the Three Mile Island emergency warning sirens (being tested twice a year).

The quoted joke he made: "If you hear a siren tomorrow, we are all going to die."

I think abc27's GM and ND (and probably Media General, abc27's new owner) had it with him this time as he was over the top enough to get fired.

I "followed" Al's personal page on Facebook and I'm seeing all posts being flooded on his page with all support from his viewers as they are furious with abc27 right now. They are encouraging others to call or email abc27's ND and GM even they want to flood their inboxes and voice calls with their dissatisfaction and anger on Al being no longer with the station. They even want him on WHP (CBS21) just across the street from abc27.

I found one abc27 viewer expressing her thoughts on abc27's Facebook page on Al's controversial joke: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=762988067081676

For some of you who still defending abc27 after I called them out when I started noticing several anchors/meteorologists being unprofessional and insensitive especially Al on the air, I hope this is a wake-up call for you.

Who cares. It was a joke. Lighten up and smile.

It's a lame excuse to fire somebody, if there is a lot of viewer outrage that says something about what they thought of the joke -- in other words apparently they got it.
