Great article on the backstory of the set.
Looks like the smaller "window" of plasmas inspired the bigger one -- and the rebuild wasn't just a "Valerie had a fit" issue.

I agree. I really like the graphic package as a whole, but the serif font ruins it. I think the whole package would look better if they used the Gotham font throughout. It'd look different from Helvetica that everyone else uses, but it'd still fit with the rest of the package.
Not a fan of serif faces either. But if they had to go that route this seems to be okay. It's at least consistent with the network; looks like they're using it for the Olympics logo.
But yes lots of great sans serif faces that could have worked.

I wish I had capped it, it really did look like a window.
Trying to figure out -- was that a different set of screens, or was it just him standing next to the main backdrop screens?
But it's clear the main backdrop isn't always a live shot. With today's clouds / rain the skyline didn't match what the live shot would show.

Love what they did with the skyline shot. It's unique, and really feels like you are looking out from a window behind from top of the Rock. For a situation where they had to split it up into separate monitors, the borders they used are a nice touch, as they feel more like windows than the bezel between monitors on WABC.
Overall very big improvement over prior set wise, and like how they handle the tease / open.
But yes oh so cramped when the whole team is up there. And we haven't seen a 4 shot yet.

That set is recycled -- it was KPIX's from 1980-84.
