Retooling it into a local late-night talk show might "work" and would be unique but I wouldn't expect them to actually do it. Easier just to cancel it.

In Topic: 2012 NATO Summit Coverage

Guess I'm going to have to be the first to say I don't like the opens. The open says "Special Report" and the VO says "Special Edition" which in my opinion are two different things. I also think the VO would have been better as "Live, from NBC 5, this is a special edition of NBC5 News at 10: The NATO Summit in Chicago."

The 3D logo in that graphic is also poorly lit and looks really flat. This whole pacakge is designed around a shiny 3D peacock but for some reason all of WMAQ's local stuff uses really flat, matte materials on 3D elements.

I believe WGBA is using it too, and like everything else they do, it doesn't look great.

Helvetica is indeed the font in the Journal Broadcast Group package.

I don't get how WGBA can have such horrible on-air presentation when they are the closest to the corporate headquarters(obviously not counting WTMJ) out of all of Journal's portfolio. They are the poster child for why graphics hubbing is a good thing.

I never got the comedy behind 30 Rock, but Community and Parks and Recreation is just hilarious. They never got the viewership they deserved. Don't know if TBS might be interested after the shows end their run on NBC, because apparently, TBS brought the rights to ABC's Cougar Town, which is nowhere near as funny.

TBS should pick up 30 Rock and retool it into a show about producing a late night talk show on TBS. :rofl!:

In Topic: NBC Today Show New Studio

The last time the Today show redid the entire set, they built a temporary outdoor studio on the plaza area to do the show from while renovations were being done (which took the entire summer to do, especially with the HD upgrades).

I do agree that they need to change things up over at Studio 1A, but if they do, I don't see how they could do it in the two weeks while Today is in London for the Olympics (unless they just do cosmetic updates).

It's not impossible to install a new set in under two weeks. The current Colbert Report set was installed in the two weeks the show was off the air for Christmas hiatus.

1A basically has a wall and windows, so there's really not a lot to worry about when it comes to installing a set. You basically have to put up the set walls for the interview areas, bring in a desk, decorate the performance area, and you're done.
