I think its a shame though not unexpected, that they'll do it on the cheap and just rotate their people in their bc at 57th. Why not make use of the facility on LI?
Can Long Islanders get all fired up and say they have to stay on L.I. similar to Fox having to keep My9 in NJ?
How does it work out in CA?

The difference here is WCBS said they're going to be adding news programming to the station, unlike WWOR, which has a whopping less-than-a-half-hour of news a day, which is why they keep getting yelled at the local government and the FCC.

What do we think the station branding will be? I can't see them continuing with the TV10/55 moniker. Not sure what's involved in switching cable positions, but a move to cable 10, on Time Warner to mirror the position on Cablevision on L.I. seems to make sense to me. I sort of like something simple like WLNY 10, then I'd play up the call letter meaning and build an image campaign around "We Love NY".

A person with paid programming on WLNY, recently posted elsewhere and referred to it as "the new CBS10".

Should be similar to KCAL branding. May be WLNY 10/55 or WLNY 10 but the call will be in.

They'll probably add a 7-9am extension of the CBS 2 AM show to compete with Fox 5 and PIX 11.

Well, their last newscast as an independently-owned station; affiliation-wise, CBS will still operate WLNY as an independent station, since The CW will still be with WPIX/Tribune until at least 2016.

They didn't mention it in words but almost the entire staff of WLNY showed up during the close hugging each other and waving to the cameras.

As of 5AM EST, (I was up so I can say) It appears the old tv 10/55 logo appeared for the last time. What was next considered to be the rebroadcast of the late night news, it was an informercial instead. The "switch" (from wlny ltd to CBS) appeared to take place at 5AM into the first few seconds of the informercial. Also at 8:30AM, the priest from the "daily mass" recognized the transition of WLNY holdings to CBS in talking about maintaining the daily mass at the same time for now rather than removing it from the schedule. Of Course, there were calls in protest to support the mass, understandibly, but that's like another story, another time.

Meanwhile I saw an "Undercover boss" promo for CBS on tv 10/55. I also saw new graphics appeared for the first time, one promoting, of course, Matlock! (with KCAL's Image News in the background) RGSjenkins, I also saw the ending too. I can only imagine a bit solemness there although somewhat surprised during the whole deal/transition into last night, no mention of the end, Just good night and that's it, i guess. Hope someone taped the end and put it up on youtube.

They're alternating between "WLNY" and "WLNY 10/55" (As in 10...55, not 10 & 55). They got rid of Jeopardy! and Wheel and replaced them with Frasier but they kept Ellen on. And they're broadcasting in widescreen.

Hmm, part of that logo looks familiar.

So I did some stretching on the choice bit.

Then I faintly remembered that another channel 10 kind of looks like that:

Most of WLNY's programming on the weekends have been mostly infomercials for years, and Eye on New York is replacing TV 10/55 Focus with Richard Rose.

Here's the ID seen before every show, there's another one with the words "We Love New York" and below right of that in small red letters is "And New Jersey and Connecticut too :)" (I'll try to catch that one)

Wow....it's going to get interesting.
Some of the rumors of how it's going to work apparently are true.

I like personally like the arrangement, adding news at a somewhat unconventional time without overkill like KCAL. I only wish a news station in Chicago would create a partnership like this...unfortunately, I can't really think a weak outlet that can be taken over. It's a shame because C(hicago)L(and)TV has gone down the crapper the last few years, and has such minimal availability outside of Comcast cable.

They made some changes to their programming. They added two courtroom shows to WLNY, Eye for a Eye (2 eps) airs at 10am and America's Court with Judge Ross (2 eps) airs weekdays at 11am and weekends at 11pm (America's Court is also seen 3:30am on WPIX). And "TV 10/55 Focus" is now renamed "Exit 10/55" with Richard Rose and Carolyn Gusoff
