NBC News has released a number of high-resolution pictures of the future home of "Rock Center" and "NBC Nightly News".

Wow. it looks like the most awesome condominium/home office/sports-room ever. No, seriously. I love this set and can't wait for it to debut.

It appears that this set won't be a huge departure for Nightly News when it makes the move. Home base (the desk) is quite similar, so lots of people probably won't notice the change.

Why mess with success?

NBC must love the L desks. The set looks nice, reminds me of the MTP set, only without the dinner table desk. lol
We're 4 New York... I mean... We are New York.

Maybe so. But if that happens, let's hope it would look more warm and homey like GMA and The View, instead of what it has now...or like the Early Show.

Brian's on the new set tonight, the transition is complete. I have one major complaint, though...SAME DAMN GRAPHICS!

You were expecting new stuff? When I saw the set, I wasn't - seeing as it looks so similar.

Kind of...4 years with the current graphics, getting a new set, it seemed like a good oppourtunity

Actually, just seeing the pictures again, it would make a great temporary set for Today (should that time come) when they redo 1A.

Monday night Nightly News showed a brief shot of the now-dismantled Studio 3C and I was able to figure out how much the floor plan I posted earlier differs from the present day setup. The red line I added below is the wall of 3C that had the window looking out over the newsroom.

Now here's where it gets interesting. The large storage room to the left of 3C on the floorplan is believed to be the old Studio 3H. Studio 3H was the first studio in 30 Rock to be converted for TV use, all the way back in 1935, and the only TV studio in 30 Rock until the late 1940's.

I have to question how much larger they'll be able to make the studio, as there appears to be structural support columns in the wall shared with 3H. Unless they are planning on undertaking a massive overhaul of the building's frame, they'll end up with a situation like WABC, with large poles in the middle of the studio, meaning they'll either need manually-operated cameras or partially-robotic cameras.

I can't read the fine print...how much square footage are we talking here (3C, 3C combined with 3H, etc)?
