WCBS, as expected, debuted their studio at noon today. After the debut, they uploaded pictures of the set construction to their Facebook page.
If you look closely at the blueprints, you can just make out the logo of the set designers: Jack Morton/PDG. The original blueprints also show what appears to be a light-up CBS2HD logo that is not present on the final set. Actually, the blueprint shows a number of CBS2HD logos, which are not present on the set. (The final set uses a boxed-style WCBS logo that has not been used on air.)
The set is designed as a circular design, with home base being the "top" of that circle and different areas positioned around the radius. Desks and backdrops are monitors which can be changed easily. The main set has several completely different skyline backdrops that can be used according to the time of day.

My USB tuner corrupted the recording of the 12pm broadcast, so here is an album of screenshots:

The RP looks awesome at noon, but the 5pm one looks stretched.

The only thing that is bothering me is the rear monitor. The image is stretched. Second, I would at least have it looping. Then again, I was spoiled by the rear projection of wnbc's 2003 set. and besides the filtering in the interview/stand up area, everything looks good.
We're 4 New York... I mean... We are New York.

I think the set is fantastic, as I've said before. I hope they pick a different backdrop though for 5/6pm because the Noon one was absolutely stunning:

The drab navy of the evening one doesn't do the set justice.

I like the evening backdrop. Just the stretch of it needs to be modified. But I do like the blend of colors. I wonder how are they going to use the backdrop for Breaking News...
